Meditation for healing
Meditation for healing...
OK, so by now, many of you realize that I have a few passions and they all pertain to physical and mental well-being. Reiki is the biggest of my passions. Healing, I feel is my life's work. I have helped and will continue to help people with Reiki, as well as myself when needed, but part of my healing comes from meditation. One of the great things about Reiki aside from its healing properties is the fact that Reiki brings you to a meditative state of calm and peacefulness.
Meditation is a great source of healing as well. It can improve our creative thinking, our energy levels, as well as stress levels. It's associated with improvement in a variety of psychological areas, including stress, depression, anxiety, addiction, eating disorders, and cognitive function, just to name a few. There are studies that suggest that meditation can reduce blood pressure, pain response, stress hormone levels, and even cellular health.
In my quest to heal many years ago, I've tried meditating off and on, and have had a very difficult time. In different periods of my life I would go through an immense healing period and then would get side tracked with life and forget to stay the course as we often do. I read everything that I could get my hands on to teach me to meditate, and without much success.
What really is meditation?
It's not an act of doing; it's a state of awareness. Meditations' one goal is to slow down, and eventually completely stop activity in our minds so that we can be at one with our inner self. This is a state of profound deep peace when the mind is calm and silent.
I've read that it takes months or even years to learn or training to learn to meditate successfully. After trying countless ways of meditation on my own, I found it increasingly difficult as well. I was looking for a way to reduce my stress and help clear mind, but I couldn't figure out a way to separate myself from all of the natural negativity of the world. I've listened to different meditation music, along with hypnotic meditation CD's but the thing that's helped me the most is Deep Zen Meditation.
Years ago I got my free demo and ended up in a period where life took over and I lost sight of the mission of healing I was looking for so it got put aside. Ironically, as my life would go, years later, in cleaning out books and cd's cluttering my space, I became re-acquainted with Zen CD and realized that with the help of Zen, I was able to start meditating and feeling good about it.
Today, I am able to use many different techniques to meditate. I find that some work better than others and I keep trying different things so that I don't lose sight of the wonderful healing benefits of meditation for me. This, for me, is a form of release of all of the pain and sadness I've endured in my life, and helps me get to a place of forgiveness.
Everyone has a different experience or need for meditation. I would love to hear your thoughts and experiences of healing with meditation in your world. In the meantime, live, love, and laugh today because tomorrow is just not promised!

positive affirmations
We are coming into a time of awakening in the world with lots of talk about envisioning and positive affirmations. Being a firm believer in the power of "The Secret", I believe that we attract whatever it is that we focus on in our lives. Keep this in mind and think about it... especially when wonderful things happen and you are truly happy. Do you ever notice the snowball effect of really great happenings or experiences? The same goes with the opposite. When you fall out of tune with positive energy, less than wonderful circumstances arise.
Positive affirmations are a wonderful tool in this world to help you get to the visions and dreams, but you must understand that you always need to look within and see what needs healing first. It is imperative that you honor the parts of your life that need healing. Without the step of embracing any pain in your life and healing it, you're essentially masking it with positive thoughts that won't have the strength to overcome what's necessary to support you.
Imagine this... Imagine that the outside of your home is old and dingy looking with paint chipping away from it at every angle. You go out and by brand new paint in a beautiful color hand chosen by your desire for your house to revive and renew its beauty. Think about step 1: Chipping all of the excess paint and sanding it down to a smooth base so that the paint will go on smoothly and evenly with a new shine and beauty. If you skip this first step, you will still have an old looking house with new looking paint chipping off at every angle. You get the point!
You can't just cover up the pain of any issues you may have to be healed and released with a new coat of paint. These issues will keep popping up on you. You really need to see them for what they are, sit with them, accept them, and let them go. Feel these feelings that go along with them, because it's these issues that make you who you are.
Really think about these words.
Now sit quietly for a moment and breathe into your heart. What feelings for you are popping up here into your heart that need healing. Truly feel these feelings to the fullest, be grateful that they are their, as they are a reminder of the lessons you need to learn. Feel the anger, sadness, or whatever it is that is with you in this moment. Feel it, resonate with it, appreciate it, and let it go. Now your can breath into your heart a layer of positive affirmations that will truly stick. Just try it, and you will be amazed with what comes next in your life.
Don't forget:
Live, Love, & Laugh often!

learn how to release the tension in your body through meditation
We all hold tension from the stresses in our daily lives within our physical form. Sometimes, we just need a reset and take a much needed break from the craziness of life. Holding tension, can not only be uncomfortable and restricting of our muscles, but sometimes your body tries to let you know it's time to rest showing as daily aches and pains. As we get older might attribute these aches and pains to the mere fact that we're getting older, saying things such as, “The body's not as young as it used to be.”
While that statement may be very true, this is not the case at all. Especially when you read about these 50, 60, 70, and even 80 year old people now taking their fitness to a whole new level and getting in the best shape of their lives. Don't fool yourself...these daily aches and pains are you body's way of telling you to take notice, and take some time to reset. If you keep ignoring it, you will soon wish you hadn't.
One way of releasing the tension within your body is to simply meditate. Meditation is simply bringing together the mind, body and spirit! Time for self love and healing will make all of the different in your physical body as well as your emotional self. You'll find that you are more clear and focused, grounded and centered. You may even find that you sleep better just by taking a bit of time for you to quiet that chatter.
Here are just a few of the many benefits of mediation: assists chronic inflammation, aids in digestion, assists mental stability, assists in overcoming OCD, soothes PTSD, assists with eating disorders, substance abuse, increases mental clarity and better concentration, promotes a healthy heart, reduces symptoms of anxiety, along with many more benefits of greater health and well-being.
I hold weekly guided meditation sessions at The Salt Hut in Oxford, PA, as well as I've created numerous guided meditations in electronic form for those who are not in my area. These meditations are created with the music of my Crystal Chakra Singing Bowls to boost the healing and harmonizing of the Chakras with sound. Each mediation is very different with a different goal in mind. Some are very basic relaxation techniques through meditation and others are for those who are looking for a deeper level of healing and guidance in their journey of life and healing themselves, finding their greater purpose in life, receiving intuition from their higher self, or meeting their guides. There's a taste for the beginners of meditation as well as those who've been meditating for some time.
I've recorded two specific hour long meditations for the body and releasing tension. The first meditation for the body is called body scan. It's a simple scan of your entire body to release the tension where it's being stored. This meditation allows you to just experience and feel your entire body deeply. It will help you to become aware of the parts of your body that hold the most tension and guides you in releasing it.
The second body mediation is called Talk to Your Body – Prompt It To Go Back To Perfect Health. This meditation guides you to speak to your unconscious mind in the reprogramming of each body part, each system, organ, muscle, and cell. Just as you people use affirmations to recondition their thoughts, you can speak to your unconscious mind and tell it exactly how it should function according to your needs.
I particularly like this one, because you are guided to use it for the specific needs of your body. As an example, if you have a terrible memory like I do, you can speak to your unconscious mind, letting it know that it's brain memory should function perfectly. Or in the case of a medical issue, you would reprogram your mind and your body to know the exact way it should be functioning.
Oh, the power of mediation. If we all just took the much needed time for ourselves to reset and heal the way our bodies were intended, we would all be so much healthier. Imagine what more you could accomplish in your life if you just stopped briefly enough every day to practice some self love. Aren't you worth it?

ground yourself while gardening
Spring is my absolute favorite time of the year. The colors are amazing and the new life coming up feels like magic to me. I try to keep grounded throughout the year, for my own sense of well being, but I find it very difficult staying focused on what my body needs, instead of what the kids need, what the house needs, and whatever else usually floats through your mind at any given time. In living and completing life's daily chores, we sometimes forget what's most important and neglect taking care of ourselves.
Most people see gardening as a chore, but for me, it's a great way for me to get back to myself and give me what my body needs. When you are standing in your garden, you are surrounding yourself in the energy of mother earth. Being in my garden, to me, means getting truly grounded with the earth. There is such a feeling a calm and serenity washing over me while I'm gardening that my mind and body are much clearer and everything is just right.
And in the fall I like the clean-up process for my garden. I take great pride in how my garden looks every year and I feel that the process of gardening in the fall is just as important as watering your flowers in the dead of summer. This is a time to clean things up, trim things back and clear what's necessary for the following spring. It's this time period of cleaning that is imperative for the type of new growth the following season. If you don't take the time to do this, you may not have healthy plants the following year. This is good for your garden, but it's also good for your soul. This is a process of cleaning and clearing for me, mind and body. When all is finished, you can stand back and be proud when looking at what you've accomplished.
Check it out... next time you are gardening, whether digging in the dirt, trimming or just pulling weeds, take a mental note on how your body physically feels. Do you feel energized? Do you still feel your body's natural daily aches and pains? Next, get inside your mind and make a mental note there. Are you feeling a little more clarity in your mind? Think about it. While being with nature and getting grounded, you may truly be amazed at the power of the earths energy that you never knew about before.
Let me know what you find!
Live, laugh, and love, always! Be well!

get grounded and heal your soul with your own personal space
We live in a fast paced world and the daily stresses in life can sometimes create blockages in our minds and bodies that wreak havoc on our mental and physical well being. It's nice to be able to get yourself to a quiet calming place and get back to healing yourself. Meditation is what you can do when you feel like you need a little time out from the world or to get grounded and calm, and Zen Meditation is a great source of healing if your interested.
If you're not a person that meditates, you'd be amazed at how rejuvenating it is to sit in a nice quiet, calm space. This alone can change your whole outlook on your day. Most people don't take the time for themselves to do this. Truly you can create a whole new you just by creating time and a space for yourself. Creating a space for you doesn't have to be an expensive venture. You can even pick a corner of a room and do some things to create a tranquil space for yourself. The first order of business is to clear out your junk. Did you ever find yourself in a much calmer place when you've cleaned out your messy closet that was long overdue? This is no different. You may notice that changing the physical space will revitalize all areas in your life, just by getting rid of clutter. Simple, right?
Next, create a cool color scheme, like blues and greens, to trigger a relaxation response. You don't need to paint the entire space. You can keep the space neutral and add these colors as accents with pillows, decor art, plants, and candles. Candles are a great way to get an aromatherapy area. Lavenders, chamomiles, and lemon are very serene and relaxing scents.
The most challenging thing about all of this is to take the time for you that we all deserve. Even if for just ten minutes a day you sit quietly in your own calming space, you will begin to heal yourself from the craziness of the day. We sometimes forget what's most important in this world and we take things for granted every day. Create a space where you can take the time to remember the importance of your mind, body, and spirit health. Everything else will follow once you take care of you and you'll forever be grateful you did.
If you want to take this to the next level, and really take care of your mind, body, and spirit, I can help. Read what others have had to say about their own personal experiences with Reiki, and how their lives have been changed.
Live, love, & laugh often for better health!

this quick grounding tip can save you energetically
Sometimes life can get to be too much and you find yourself very overwhelmed. Here's a simple technique to get yourself energetically back in one piece and grounded to the earth. The best thing to do is to simply walk on the grass in your bare feet and you will quickly feel the healing of mother earth and very grounded. If you find, that walking outside in the grass is not an option for you, take a 5 minute break from whatever your doing.
Do this little visualization technique, guaranteed to bring you back to being grounded:
Take 3 deep inhalations through your nose and 3 deep exhalations through your mouth, breathing in relaxation and exhaling stress and tension. Now imagine a root growing from the base of your spine. Visualize this root growing down through the room, through the floor, and into the ground; see this root growing deep into the center of the earth. Allow this root to grow thicker while mother earth grabs a hold of it, securing it to her core. Continue to inhale relaxation and exhale stress and tension. Now feel loving energy coming into your body through your root. Mother earth is sending back to you, all of the loving and healing energy of the earth.
Just do this for a few moments, then go back to whatever it is your were doing, and see how very different your energy feels. This is a magical little time out for yourself!

techniques to heal naturally
We are all made of energy! What some of us fail to do sometimes, even if unintentionally, is protect our energy to keep us in balance. Keeping yourself healthy, happy, and living an abundant life is truly about balance. Throughout the course of our day, most of us pay close attention to the running list of things we need to do, and getting them done. At the end of the day, when you've completed your list, you feel a sense of accomplishment which is a wonderful feeling. I can relate as I too have that running list in my head daily. But, do you make taking care of you a priority on that list?
What I've learned personally throughout my life though, is that I need to make a conscious effort to also put the things on my list that matter the most to my well-being. These are the things we sometimes forget about; the things that are important to our health and ultimate happiness. Because after all, when one of part of a puzzle is missing, the puzzle is incomplete. This is how our energy becomes low or even blocked in certain areas, creating all sorts of issues within our minds and our bodies. We need to make sure we can remain whole in order to keep ourselves balanced, for a healthy mind, body, and spirit.
Daily activities that will help to keep you healthy:
First and foremost, GET GROUNDED! Go outside and go for a walk. Stand barefoot on the grass. Dig in the dirt in your garden. Do any one or all of these things for at least 10 minutes a day for some quality you time. Simply take notice and truly 'feel' how comforting the earth is to us. Being grounded is the foundation in which we live; its our sense of security and well-being.
Next is to BREATHE! Simply breathe! Do a quick little experiment on yourself. Take a few short shallow breaths, and take notice to how you feel. Now take a few long inhale and exhalations. Really fill those lungs! Notice how you feel now. Your breath is essentially your life force and most of us take this for granted. Be mindful in filling your lungs completely and realize that with each breath, your breathing in life! This is epic! And, sadly, most of us don't even realize this throughout the course of our day.
Choose EXERCISE for yourself every day. Even if for just that 10 minute walk around the block. Or, while your on the grass getting grounded, try jumping up and down. Not only will this help you get grounded, but you'll also get your blood flowing, and get those endorphins pumping. Endorphin's are the 'feel good' chemicals released in your body that interact with receptors in your brain to help one stay focused, relieved of pain, and generally happy. Personally, I love Yoga. Not only am I doing something good for my body, but at the end, I get to do a quiet little me time in Shavasana. Bonus!
WRITING is also a fabulous outlet for daily personal healing. If you're a person that has too many things going on in your world or in your mind, writing can help to keep you on track. Use a journal to get your thoughts organized or expressed. You may even realize, you have feelings about certain things that you never knew you had because they are very deep in the subconscious. This is where the healing happens. Try it, you may just clear your mind!
Live with a daily sense of GRATITUDE for the many blessings in your life. Many people's brains live in the negativity of the world or their life, that they forget how truly bless they are. I challenge you to 30 days of gratitude. Every day for 30 days, before your even put your feet on the ground in the morning, think of one thing in your life that your grateful for, however small. See how differently you look at things on day 30 than you did on day one. Take notice of the difference in your daily thoughts.
Play your favorite MUSIC every day to heal yourself! Findings of resonant frequency of organs is happening worldwide by doctors to assist in vibrating the whole body back into a state of health, and transfuse illness and diseases such as anxiety, PTSD, migraines, depression, memory issues, chronic pain, sleep disorders, and even cancer. Follow Me to learn more on the healing power of sound!

“What you think, you become. What you feel, you attract. What you imagine, you create!” - Buddha
Findings of resonant frequency of organs is happening worldwide by doctors to assist in vibrating the whole body back into a state of health, and transfuse illness and diseases such as anxiety, PTSD, migraines, depression, memory issues, chronic pain, sleep disorders, and even cancer. that damn "c" word
“We have two options, medically and emotionally: give up or fight like hell.” ~Lance Armstrong
“Cancer is a word, not a sentence!” ~I don't know who wrote this, but it's my personal favorite!
That damn C Word. It truly doesn't have to be a sentence! Have you had a family member, close friend or anyone near and dear to your heart who's been affected by it? Have you had to watch someone endure the pain during treatments? Have you witnessed this person become a shell of the person they once were? If you have, you know how very difficult it is to hear the word, let alone even think about it. As a cancer survivor, and someone who's watched numerous loved ones lose their battle, I know personally how hard it is. But what we could all fight against it?
As a cancer survivor myself, I can attest that Reiki has saved my life in more ways than one. Sadly, it was through Reiki and my healer that I learned what love truly felt like within my being for the first time in my life. I also learned that mind, body and spirit are all connected. Truly, it wasn't until I got my emotional state of being on board in the healing department, that my body began to heal completely.
Let me explain by saying that all aches, pains, illness and disease begin in the mind. It was the continuous negative self talk that began in my mind, created blockages and density in my physical body, manifesting my cancer. I personally, had ingrained in my mind that I was not worthy of many things, such as being important enough to have an opinion, to be able speak my personal truth, or even being important enough to put myself first. I certainly didn't feel worthy of being loved, let alone, know how to be kind to and love myself. This self talk continued deeply for years and manifested that damn C word within me twice before I realized why.
Listen closely....what are you telling yourself daily? The body was made to self-correct, but when your internal recording continuously repeats negative things, your body listens and holds this negativity as density in the body without the positive flow of energy. The body WILL manifest all sorts of ailments/issue and even disease like it did within me. So first and foremost, notice what kinds of things your telling yourself daily and work every day to break a pattern any negative self talk.
I'm living proof that Cancer can be just a word! There are so many things we can do in an effort not to assist the body in manifesting disease in the first place. But one of THE most important things that I did for myself was to be my own medical advocate, finally. More on that here. The second most important thing I did was to break the negative pattern and change my internal recording. I did this with regular Reiki Sessions and meditation so that I could feel the love within that I was missing. For me was huge. I also carried a rose quartz crystal in my pocket every day for quite a while as a reminder that I was worthy of love. And I vowed to myself that I would do kind and loving things for myself, which was and sometimes still is very difficult for someone who always puts others first. For me, this is a constant daily effort, but today, I am healthy and whole. You can be too and I'd love to help!
