Half empty vs half full is a matter of perspective. Are you familiar with the story of the two kids growing up in the same house with the same circumstances and one sees a glass half full while the other sees that same glass as half empty? It’s all a matter of your perspective and changing your thought process can change your perspective.
When one perceives their glass (life) as being half empty, they are living their life with a sense of lack and constantly thinking about what they are missing. In contrast, when one perceives their life as being half full, they are seeing all of their blessings and beauty around them. This doesn’t mean they don’t both have dreams or wishes. It simply means that the optimistic child can truly appreciate what they have in front of them as a gift, large or small. Let’s not forget that what you think about, creates your life. So while living with a sense of lack mentally, you’re actually inviting more lack in your life, and trust me, the universe is listening to your wishes and will likely always grant them. It’s time to then change your perspective. Here’s a simple exercise to shift your perspective into that half full or optimistic consciousness, so that you may attract more of life’s gifts and blessings. Begin with imagining your life as a completely empty glass. Now begin to fill that glass with every single thing in your life that is important to you or makes you smile when you think about it, big or small. Begin with your family and friends and the time you spend with them, your home, the work you do, the kids, grandkids or pets, your health, things you love. Now all of the things you have that you are thankful for. Now take a look at your glass and decide if it’s half empty or half full. You may find that all of your gifts, blessings, and things that make you feel happy and smile are flowing out of your glass. This is a brand new year that will become what we make of it simply with our perspective. Change your perspective! Choose to see the strength that you possessed last year and made it through such a challenging time! Take a minute to acknowledge your blessings throughout a very difficult year and you will surely be inviting more of those things into your life in this new year. It all starts with you. What perspective will you choose? Stay well. Live, love and laugh like today is your last day on earth! Nicole
