Most people seem to think it’s so important to start a new year with resolutions. The connotation of resolution is that we didn’t quite get things right last year, so we need to do things better in this new year. While this may seem like a great idea because bigger and better is what we sometimes strive for, what if we just dropped the resolutions and vow to be better to ourselves, be positive, and look at our many blessings all around us? If your being true to yourself, the rest will surely fall into place.
Many people reflect on the past year and sometimes define their life by their accomplishments or non accomplishments in that year. It’s always a good thing to take note of your personal accomplishments and be proud of what you were able to achieve. Sit back and revel in it because you worked hard for it and you deserve to. It’s also a good idea to take notice of the things you wanted to achieve, but maybe didn’t quite yet achieve, and look at those things in a different perspective. Know that you are not your accomplishments and you are not what you may see as your failures. This was a hard lesson, but I’ve learned to look at the non accomplishments not as failures, but as something that just hasn’t happened yet and a learning experience.
If we live life every day in each moment taking the lessons we’ve learned in the past to do our very best, be kind and loving to ourselves, we would see that we’re living our life’s purpose fully and completely. You don’t need to hold yourself to an idea of what you think success looks like because of a resolution you’ve made. So maybe we just release ourselves from that pressure and promise ourselves to do our very best in each moment. Even through the lessons of the difficult moments, put it into proper perspective, everything in your life will begin to feel like a blessing. Be true to you and sit with gratitude that you are being the very best you can be in following your heart. Remember that law of attraction? Like attracts like, so gratitude and kindness for oneself brings more of the same. Then you’ll see nothing but blessings!
